ANNUAL HIGH TEA

We had our annual Fundraising High Tea at Emmanuel Church on the 2 nd March, 2019. We have it as close to International Rare Disease Day as possible. The theme for Rare Disease Day was “Show Your Rare, show you care” with this is mind, we decided on succulents for our décor.

The men, supervised by Colin Daniels, set up the tables and chairs on Friday night. Lynn Reebein then decorated with the tablecloths, overlays, succulents and candles. On Saturday morning we set the tables and arranged the savouries and cakes on plates and set them on the individual tables. We had 2 stations for tea and coffee and a table with big cakes which we cut up and served to the tables. We had a ‘Voetstoots’ table at the back of the church with bric a brac donated by family and friends and with prices that insured you got a bargain, we sold most of our stock. We also had Myrna Schafer doing our auction of household items as well as 2 flights over the Peninsula, 2 beautiful bags and watches. Another new idea was a “Pop the Balloon” with balloons numbered 1 to 100 – so you paid from R1 to R100 and everyone was more than satisfied with their “prize”. We also had lucky draws for best dressed, oldest and youngest guest.

Much fun was had by all and we raised about 80% of our target. All the funds raised will go to-wards our Annual Family Gathering which is planned for later this year.
We are grateful to each and everyone who supported our event as well as those who sponsored cakes, goodies and made a financial donation.
